Hemel Hempstead-born Luke Donald has been installed as the pre-tournament favourite for the Open de France which begins in Paris tomorrow.
Donald – who was last seen finishing tied eighth in the US Open Championship – has won seven career tournaments and has finished in the money in four of the six events he has played on the European Tour this year.
Betfair have priced the former Rudolf Steiner School pupil at 11/1 to take the honours in Paris.
Matteo Manassero, who currently sits second in the race to Dubai rankings, can be backed at odds of 25/1 with Betfair, with Irishman Graeme McDowell a 28/1 shot.
Betfair Spokesman Barry Orr said: “Donald is a strong market leader having played well in the US Open recently. Manassero has been consistent this year and is also likely to attract support.”
“However we often see support for last year’s event winners and Siem may be nibbled at, at much bigger odds.”
Reigning champion Marcel Siem is a 40-1 chance to regain his crown. He finished 10th in the BMW International Open in Germany in June, when last seen playing on the European Tour.
