The Little Hay Golf Club men’s team have won the 2012 Herts Friendly League, while the ladies have retained the club’s All Sections Cup.

After a summer of home and away matches across the county, the men – who last won the league title in 2010 – wrestled the title back from 2011 winners Panshanger GC.

The ladies team, meanwhile, beat off the challenge of the other sections to win the All Sections Cup for the second year running.

In other action, the top pair in the ladies’ O’Connor Cup foursomes competition were Elaine Meagher and Linda Reeve.

In the ladies and senior mens’ greensome, it was Chris Marsden and her partner John Ridgewell who came out on top, with Marsden also finishing in second place in Division Two and sixth overall in the Grand Final of the UK Public Course Championships at St Andrews.

Elsewhere, the mixed greensome marked the beginning of a busy week of golf for the senior men’s section.

The annual match between the senior captain’s chosen team and 10 Past senior captains resulted in a 5:0 victory for current captain Lance Redler and his team.

Always active charity supporters, the seniors competed for the Vic Allen Trophy – an event in aid of Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care.

Ralph Lane was the clear winner with 39 points.

Elsewhere, Division One winner of the Little Hay seniors’ monthly stableford competition was Phil Joslin, while Frank Klimaszewski triumphed in Division Two.

Finally, the mens team were in action again, but were edged out into second place in the Needle Shield at Panshanger Golf Club.
