KITCHENERS secured an important win as they took on Berkhamsted in the Dacorum Shield.
The teams drew the ladies’ and men’s rinks but Kitcheners took the mixed and the friendly rinks.
Kitcheners received four points for their efforts, while Berkhamsted took one.
The Kitcheners side also picked up a win over Bovingdon in the same competition, scooping all five points.
Bovingdon, though, won the friendly rink.
Elsewhere, Roy Phipps, Dave Shirley and Mavis Janes were highest rink for Kitcheners in a 89-72 defeat at Amersham, while Dave Collins, Debbie Whiting and Jan Perry were top rink in a 69-69 draw with Harpenden.
Berkhamsted pairing John Webb and Terry Kenyon, meanwhile, continued their good form with a victory over a Rowley Lane duo in the Watford and District Pairs competition, and Brian Smith picked up a win in the Watford and District Unbadged competition.
Berkhamsted also picked up a 3-1 friendly victory over St Albans thanks to a top rink of Doris Mills, Dave Sear, Alan Dann and Kenneth Maynard.
Sunday’s friendly triples match against Redborn also produced an impressive win on all four rinks, the highest being Frank Furlong, Nolan Biggs and Anne Furlong.
It was a very good week for Potten End as they picked up a host of victories.
Phil Bunting and Graham Floyd beat a Herts duo 18-15 in the Watford and District Pairs, while the trio of Bunting, Dave Gomm and Stan Durrant beat a Bushey team 28-10 in the Watford and District 2 Wood Triples.
In the National 2x4s, Potten End beat Cassiobury 50-30, while the midweek friendly men’s match with Hemel Hempstead ended in a 99-50 win for End.
Top Rink were John Lowe, Kieth Carrington, Arthur Page and Tom Jordon.
A top rink of Dave Gomm, Roy Moore, Jack Frogell and Peter Reece then helped the club to a 94-56 win over Dunstable, before End rounded off the week with a 78-59 win at Kingsbury.
John Lowe, Roy Moore, Gerry Jackson, and Tony Howard were top rink.
Elsewhere, Tring bagged superb win over Townsend in the National 2 Fours.
In a dramatic finish, Tring took the final end by two shots to triumph 35-33.
In their Watford & District Evening League fixture, Tring beat Kings Langley by 16 shots, but went down 86-71 to Thame.
Top rink went to Audrey Boniface, Brian Livesey and Malcolm Watson.
Meanwhile, Kings Langley’s Ladies – Rosemary Biggs, Teresa Huntley, Carol Brown and Margaret Ludlow – secured a 30-13 win over Cassiobury Ladies.
On the friendly rink, Irene Turtle, Ann Clark, Anne Reilly and Viv Tolley won even more decisively, picking up a 25-5 victory.
The week ended in a 108-00 loss to Batchwood Hall, although the top rink of Jackie Chambers, Gerald Cowan, Carol Brown and Robert Jones won 27-21.
