Junior badminton players turned out in force for a tournament hosted by Sportspace this month.
After a hard-fought day’s play, medals were won by James Sweetnam (boys’ Years 10-13), Rutwik Mudholkar (boys’ Years 7 and 8), Daniel Lewis (boys’ Year 6), Jamie Symonds (boys’ Year 9) and Holly George-Samuels (girls’ Years 8-10).
Pierre Fouquet, Adam Ramsley, Patrick Clark, Adam Hawkins and Tian Figg finished as runners’-up in the respective tournaments.
Event organiser Carol Gahan said: “The tournament went very successfully, with the standard of play increasing throughout the ages at each of our tournaments.
“It is a great way for the children to play against others and improve their skills.
“The tournaments are played very competitively but in an excellent sporting manner.”
Sportspace will be holding another junior competition in May, while the next adult tournament will take place on Saturday, April 28.
The event will feature open men’s and ladies’ doubles, veterans’ men’s and ladies’ doubles, open mixed doubles and veterans’ mixed doubles.
The tournament will follow a round robin format, followed by knock-out matches to decide the winners.
