Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International held their black-belt gradings at Hemel Hempstead School at the weekend.

Eve Messenger, Christopher Cooper, Niaazul Hoque, Muminah Koleoso, Gary Page, Christopher Allen, Nicholas Callaghan, Phillip Chiverton, Graham Webb, Peer Lustraeten and Joydeep Shil progressed to first Dan black-belt status.

Mark Richards, Philip Barton, Stephanie Farrer, Caspar Mahoney and James Baldwin moved up to second Dan black-belt and Steve Howlett became a third Dan black-belt.

The grading examiners were Malcolm Phipps 8th Dan – the chief instructor of SSKI – assistant chief instructor Tony Bunting 6th Dan and chief referee Jeff Carson 4th Dan.

SSKI will be taking in new students in the New Year and all ages are welcome to attend. There are clubs based in Hemel Hempstead, Bovingdon and Berkhamsted.
