It was another busy weekend for the Gade Valley Harriers as they hosted their third and final Marathon Training Run of the year.
A total of 364 runners took on the challenge of a tough and hilly 20-mile route through Little Heath, Ashridge, Nettleden and Potten End.
Also this weekend some Harriers went further afield for races, with women’s team captain Susie Ivin completing the Rome Marathon in a very good time of 4 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds – despite high humidity and rain making conditions difficult.
Elsewhere, both Peter and Sam Tucker ran in the heat of Jerusalem in Israel. Peter tackled the half marathon and completed it in 2 hours, 35 minutes, while Sam went for the full marathon and set a new PB of 4 hours and 30 minutes.
> Meanwhile, A quartet of athletes from Tring Running Club were in action at the Oakley 20-mile race hosted by Bedford Harriers.
A field of 818 runners took on the undulating, rural course, with Elizabeth Daniel leading the Tring team home in 453rd place.
She was followed by William Harvey in 562nd, Kingsley Basson in 671st and Frances Mills in 733rd.
