The Herts Falcons picked up where they left off in the National Baseball League on Sunday – winning both of their games against the Essex Redbacks.
The double-header triumph ensures that the Falcons’ bid for a first National Baseball League title continues to look strong as they sit in a tie for top spot with the Southampton Mustangs.
For now, the Falcons will be focusing on ensuring they finish in the top two at the end of the season to guarantee a place in the four-team national championship in September.
Elsewhere, Herts Baseball Club had one win and one loss in each of the next three tiers of the league.
The Ravens have fought back admirably in recent weeks, after a tricky start to the season, to move from bottom of the table to sixth in the AAA South division.
The Herts Hawks, meanwhile, currently sit seventh out of 11 teams in the AA South division, and will he hopeful of at least making it into the top half of the standings by the end of the season.
Finally, in Pool A of the A South Division – which features two Herts Baseball Club teams – the Raptors are top of the pile and boast the best record among all fourth-tier sides in the country.
Qualification for the post-season play-offs is a realistic possibility for the team.
The Eagles currently have three wins and five losses, suffering a 28-17 defeat to the Old Timers in their most recent outing.
