Also in the U20s, Hannah Wardley had her first race for several months and was a creditable fourth in a solid time of 2:38:44.

In the U17 category, Claire Baxter threw an excellent PB of 21.44m in the discus for the silver medal. She also ran for fourth in the 800m with a season’s best 2:35:33.

Sophie Chesterman was a place ahead for bronze with a season’s best 2:33:18.

The U15s were not to be outdone and there was a high class 1-2 in the 800m for Sophie Morton and Scarlett Wager-Leigh with impressive times of 2:21:40 and 2:22:50.

Abi Jones continued her prolific javelin season a throw of 29.51m to take silver, while Becca Jones ran 14.52 in the 100m heats and Emily Baxter set a PB of 49.32 to secure fifth in the 300m final.

The latter duo then threw strongly in the shot; both getting the same distance of 7.49m in what was a PB for Baxter and close to a PB for Jones.

On the male side there was a fine PB of 2:01:66 for Jonty Wager-Leigh in the 800m to put him in bronze medal position.

Jamie Lloyd and Tom Conway both ran well in the U17 400m final, with both achieving PBs (54.08 and 54.90 respectively) as Lloyd won silver and Conway finished fourth.
