Gade Valley Harriers turned out in force on Sunday, with 33 runners competing in the 30th Ricky Road Run in Rickmansworth.

The course was a 10-mile road race round the tough hills of Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and the Chalfonts.

Adding to their success in the Chiltern League Cross Country meet at Watford last weekend, the Harriers not only retained the ladies’ team first prize from last year, but this year the men’s team stepped up and took top spot as well.

Harriers also bagged a clean sweep of first, second and third in the men’s veteran category, courtesy of Guy Woollett in 1h 03m 07s, Bill Hawes in 1:04:06 and Steven Boyd in 01:05:02.

Second in the ladies’ veteran category was Gade Valley’s Teresa Reason in a time of 01:14:26.

The men’s team also took home the Herts County Veterans Champions title.
