ON Sunday (October 23) the latest batch of fighters from Hemel Martial Arts will step into the ring.

Weeks of intensive training will be put to the test when Reece Watson, 34, James Caird, 28, Edward Arthur, 21, Jason Cooper, 20, and Josh Bangert, 18, compete at Liquid and Envy Nightclub in Luton.

Tickets cost £20 in advance or £25 on the door and can be purchased by calling the box office on 01582 405388. Doors open at 5pm.

The five fighters train under middleweight champion Denniston ‘Mad Max’ Sutherland at his thriving gym in Fensomes Alley, Hemel Hempstead.

“The guys are all looking really good and really sharp,” he said.

“The main thing is they are keeping busy - as soon as you stop competing you can easily go off the boil.”

The club has had a wealth of success at competitions this year, including Denniston himself who claimed the title of Ultimate Challenge Mixed Martial Arts middleweight from Mark Weir in June.
