Dacorum & Tring Athletics Club clinched another outstanding win in Ipswich to keep their hopes of promotion from Division Two well and truly alive.

Despite the unpredictable weather conditions, the combined men and women’s team triumphed with 197 points over Ipswich (189), Ryston (180) and London Heathside (138).

The sprinters stole the show for the men’s team, with Eliot Copperwhite winning both the 100m in a new PB time of 11 seconds and the 200m in a new PB and club record time of 22.1s. He has now qualified for the English Schools Championships in Birmingham in July.

Other first places for the men went to Jon Rendell in the 200m and the 400m A, Shaun Wall in the shotput A and javelin B, Trevor Ratcliffe in the javelin A, Jack Parslow in the 5,000m A, John Garner in the shotput B, Ollie Morris in the high jump A, Thomas Chew in the 2,000m steeplechase, and the 4 x 100m squad.

For the ladies’ team, Laura Clark ran a brilliant 100m A race to win in a new PB and club record time of 12.2s – securing her qualification for the English Schools Championships in July.

Megan Smith won the 100m B and high jump B, Lucy Jones won the long jump B and 100m hurdles A, and Anna Jones won the 100m Hurdles B.

The result puts the team in third place overall in the division, and with the last two matches at home at Jarman Park, promotion to Division One is still well within their reach.
