Seven young Dacorum & Tring AC athletes have been selected to compete for Hertfordshire at the English Schools Track and Field Championships at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on July 11 and 12.

Ben Collins (100m), Chenna Okoh (300m), Jackson Cowans (triple jump) and Michael Fryer (pole vault) head up the club’s contingent of junior boys looking for some silverware in Birmingham.

All four boys are highly ranked in the UK Power of 10 lists, with Chenna top in the country for U15 boys’ 300m, Michael joint fifth in the U15 boys’ pole vault, Jackson 11th in U15 boys’ triple jump and Ben joint 22nd in U15 boys’ 100m.

Meanwhile, Dom Ashwell will be looking to place well in the inter boys’ 100m, while Eliot Copperwhite will run in the 100m in the senior boys’ category.

Dom is currently joint fourth in the U17 men’s rankings for 100m and Eliot is in the top-50 nationally for U20 men’s 100m.

The sole female representative, Meg Smith, will be one of the favourites in the senior girls’ high jump, with her current national ranking of joint-12th in the U20 women’s high jump.

The English Schools Championships is one of the most prestigious meets on the English youth athletics circuit and has produced a number of top athletes over the years.
