Junior rugby players have a been kitted out with a stylish new strip after receiving a cash boost from a Herts county councillor.
Cllr Andrew Williams’ – who represents Hemel Hempstead East – gave £700 from his locality budget to Camelot Rugby Club to fund the new kits.
The cash went towards replacing 276 match shirts for the club’s youth teams from U7 to U15 level. The majority of their existing shirts were well worn and need to be replaced.
Camelot is a community rugby club in Hemel Hempstead for boys and girls aged between five and 18, and also boasts four senior men’s teams.
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.
