The Hemel Hempstead Camelot U13s stormed through their first match of the season with a commanding 25-5 victory against Harrow, pictured right.
On a sunny morning at Chaulden Lane, the team were eager to put into practice the tactical and fitness training they have worked on throughout the summer.
Playing their first game as a 15-a-side team, and on a full sized pitch, 12-year-old captain Arthur Fitt led his team from the front – breaking free with the ball and charging forward with several spectacular runs in the first half.
Camelot went in at half-time with a commanding 15-0 lead, but the second half promised to be more tough as the team had an uphill battle to the finish.
However, they managed to completed the game confidently with two further tries, conceding just one during the latter stages.
Camelot has a growing youth section, and players of all ages can join the club, starting with tag rugby for U7s, right through to adults. From U13s upwards boys and girls play separately.
The U13s are coached on Wednesday evenings and other age groups train at various times during the week but almost all matches are played Sunday mornings.
With the increased size of the team, the U13 side is currently looking for a couple more players to strengthen the squad.
