It was a golden day for the Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International clubs at the annual kata competition at Hemel Hempstead School.

The Dacorum clubs have taken countless top awards at the World, European and National Championships over the past four decades, and they added to their tally in style.

Reigning world champion Thomas Carson was on fire yet again as he bagged another gold medal, while Stacey Barton also scooped top honours.

Silver medals were won by Daniel White, Nick Callaghan, Vicky Adams, the U16 kata team of Olivia Christodoulou, Muminah Koleoso and Carson, and the adult kata team of Stephanie Farrer, Adams and Cameron West.

West and Farrer also picked up bronze medals.

SSKI Chief Instructor Malcolm Phipps 8th Dan said: “I am over the moon at the amazing successes of 2013 so far, with only around half the year gone. “

The clubs now have quiet patch competition-wise until September, but training will be in full flow.
