It was a day of drama and excitement at the Little Hay Ladies Invitation Day.
The pairs better-ball Stableford competition produced excellent scores – however these were outshone by two sparkling individual achievements.
Little Hay’s Nicola Goddard shot a hole in one on the 157-yard eighth hole, while Ashridge’s Julie Ivelaw-Chapman saw her second shot on the 304-yard sixth run up onto the green and drop into the hole for an eagle two.
The overall winners of the competition were Jean Dove and Ivelaw-Chapman with 50 Stableford points, ahead of runners-up Dawn Rose and Anne Seaford with 47 points and third-placed Chris Woodcock and Pam Swaham with 46 points.
The event raised £110 for Herts Air Ambulance.
Elsewhere, the Little Hay senior men won back the annual Cheshay Cup by holding Cheshunt to a 3-3 draw having beaten them on their home course earlier in the year.
John Cruickshank of Little Hay donated the cup 18 years ago and each club has won it nine times.
Elsewhere, the summer events for juniors continued at Little Hay, with Will Butler winning the latest Stableford competition on countback with 40 points.
In the Junior Medal competition, Hayden Bunce triumphed with a net score of 61.
