A podium place for Salt at muddy Hertford Heath

Dacorum & Tring Athletic Club posted a host of strong results at the 2012 Hertfordshire Cross Country County Championships on a challenging and muddy course at Hertford Heath at the weekend.

Once again, Matthew Salt scored a podium finish, placing second in the senior men’s category, in his first year as a senior.

Andrew Cracknell also cracked the top-10, finishing in eighth place in a field of 95.

In the senior women’s race, Catherine Davies took 12th spot in a competitive field of 60 runners.

The club’s younger runners also showed their mettle, with Alex Eykelbosch just out of the medals in fourth spot in the U20 women’s race.

In the U15 girls’ event, Phoebe Smith placed ninth, India Chadwick 20th and Annabelle Hunt 27th.

Charlotte Munn took 22nd for the U13 girls, while the two youngest competitors, Sasha Pond and Maddie Perry, placed seventh and 14th respectively for the U11 girls.

The boys also ran to respectable finishes, with Samuel Fielding and Rhys Rowlands finishing 19th and 24th respectively for the U15 Boys, while Ben Hunt took 19th and Josh Van Heiningen was 24th for the U13 boys.

Dacorum & Tring AC are back in action at the weekend at Luton’s Wigmore Valley, the fourth of five events in the 2012-13 Chiltern League XC series.
