Hemel Camelot continued their free-scoring form with a ten-try rampage against Grasshoppers at Chaulden Lane.

Going into the game on the back of a 15-try mauling of London Nigerian in their last outing, Camelot were full of confidence and put the Grasshoppers to the sword in emphatic fashion.

Camelot’s try-scoring machine Carl Buckingham was first on the scoresheet after four minutes, before Gary Jahn, and full-back Nick Merritt (2) took the score to 20-0 after just 20 minutes.

Grasshoppers responded with two quick tries of their own to halve the deficit, only for Merritt to get his hat-trick try and hand Hemel a 25-10 half-time lead.

The precision passing and pace of the Camelot backs proved too much for the Grasshoppers in the second half and Buckingham added two more tries to his tally soon after the restart.

Further tries from prop Ryan Long and centre Ross Willoughby stretched the lead to 47-10, before the visitors got a consolation try.

Camelot rounded off the game in style with Sam Lowry adding his team’s 10th try of the afternoon, converted by Connor Flannery who then added a penalty on the final whistle.

Next up for the Hemel is a trip to UCS Old Boys on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 2.30pm
