The Longdean School Boccia team battled their way to a top-five finish at the Boccia England Schools League National Final held in the Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield.

The event is the culmination of all the regional and county leagues that take place in England throughout the year, which saw the Longdean team qualify as champions of the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire league.

A total of 13 teams from across the country took part in the finals, and the Longdean team finished runners-up in the initial group stage which meant just missing out on a semi-final place.

Instead, they qualified for the fifth and sixth place play-off match against Longshaw School from Blackburn, where the Longdean team of Lewis Brunt, Rachel Hartley, Thomas Hartley and Jessica Stretton swept to a comfortable 7-3 victory.
