CRICKET: Hemel Hempstead Town CC have begun their preparations for the forthcoming cricket season.
Among then items decided at a recent players’ meeting were the team captains for this year.
And the outcome is that there is little change at either the top or bottom tiers of the club.
Hemish Ilangaratne will continue in this role as first XI captain, while Cameron Hutcheon – who filled in for Mark Brazier when he returned to Kings Langley mid-season – remains as his first team vice-captain.
Graham Clark and Neil Morgan remain as captain and vice-captain of the second XI, but there is a change in the third team set-up.
Roger Doodson, who had been captain since 2001, has been forced to step down due to a long-term illness, and he is replaced by Jim Birnie. His vice captain has yet to be decided.
Elsewhere, Steve Smith continues as the fourth XI captain, with vice-captain Ben Dumpleton, and the fifth team captain remains Trevor Radcliffe – his vice captain Tony Linfoot.
Matches get under way on Saturday, April 14, and Herts League matches for the second, third, fourth and fifth teams commence on Saturday, May 5.
The first XI will begin their HCPL League campaign with an away fixture at Stevenage on Saturday, May 12.
