Max Whitlock receives Olympic call-up

HEMEL Hempstead gymnastics star Max Whitlock has been included in the Team GB squad for this summer’s Olympic Games.

His place in the team was confirmed by British Gymnastics at a press conference at Loughborough University at 1pm today (Wednesday).

It ends an anxious wait for 19-year-old Max, who can now focus fully on the Games.

Max, from Adeyfield, is one of five male gymnasts in the GB team, and he will be competing alongside five female artistic gymnasts, an individual female trampoline gymnast, an individual rhythmic gymnast and a rhythmic group, who complete the squad.

The gymnastics events will take place at the North Greenwich Arena – also known as the 02 Arena – between July 28 and August 7.
