Dacorum can now boast an Olympic qualifier – in the shape of young gymnast Max Whitlock.

The prodigiously talented teenager, along with his GB team-mates, booked a place at London 2012 after a superb showing at he London Prepares gymnastics test event at the O2 Arena.

The GB side – knowing that a top-four place was essential in order to qualify for this summer’s event – produced a flawless display to finish top of the eight-nation competition.

And to top things off for Adeyfield teenager Max, he collected a silver medal for his efforts in the individual pommel horse event – beaten only by team-mate Louis Smith.

> See next week’s Gazette for a full report and an interview with Max.
