Eleanor proves that she is an ace off the tee

A teenage golfer was left stunned and speechless when she saw her ball drop into the cup for her very first hole-in-one at Little Hay Golf Club last week.

Playing a friendly three-ball round with her mother and a friend, 16-year-old Little Hay member Eleanor Stammeijer hit a perfect 6-iron from the tee at the 137-yard 14th hole and the ball flew towards the green – before nestling in the hole.

Eleanor, who has been playing golf at the Bovingdon-based club for less than two years, said: “The ball bounced twice and then after a short roll it just dropped into the hole. I felt in complete shock and was speechless.

“It was only because of the cheers from my playing partners and from golfers on the nearby 15th tee, that I realised what I had done.”
