Victory for Berkhamsted Raiders youngsters at the South East Championships

Berkhamsted Raiders Red and Blue U9s took to the road to take part in the South East Championships at Camber Sands in East Sussex.

The teams played in two pools of five with teams from Cardiff, Enfield, Dagenham and Folkestone.

After two intense days of competition, the tournament grand final was between Raiders Red and Raiders Blue.

Blues won the final 2-0 and received an enormous trophy from former Wales, Arsenal and Celtic star John Hartson.

Age group co-ordinator Ian Sudbery said: “Both teams and sets of parents were a credit to the club.”

Meanwhile, Berkhamsted Raiders has been shortlisted for a trio of awards at the Hertfordshire FA Awards 2014.

Previously winners in 2010 and 2012, the club has been nominated for FA Community Club of the Year and the FA Respect Award.

Ashlyns School pupil Josh Hart has also been nominated for the Coach of the Year Award.

The winners will be announced at the FA’s gala awards evening at Sopwell House on June 4.
