Tring Athletic maintained their 100 per cent start to the season as they beat St Margaretsbury 1-0 at The Grass Roots Stadium on Tuesday night to make it five wins on the spin.

A penalty converted coolly by talisman Chris Vardy seven minutes into the second half was the decisive goal in a tough encounter against a strong and determined St Margaretsbury team.

The win pushes Tring up to second place in the SSML Premier Division table, behind AFC Dunstable on goal difference.

Next up for Julian Robinson’s side is a trip to Oxhey Jets for a league fixture on Saturday afternoon, 3pm kick-off.
