Early goals from Danny May and Victor Osobu, as well as some top saves from new keeper Ashley Timms, earned the Tudors their first away win since November.

After Chippenham’s 7-1 home drubbing by Bideford at the weekend – and with the Tudors two goals up inside seven minutes – it looked as if a thrashing was on the cards, but Hemel switched off soon after and Chippenham deservedly came back into the game.

Inspired by Timms, however, the Tudors held on to register the valuable three points.

Results were also kind to Hemel elsewhere as playoff rivals Cambridge City were held to a draw at Bashley, and Barwell were beaten by Gosport Borough.

Tudors manager Dean Brennan said: “It was a great team performance tonight to bounce back after our defeat on Saturday.

“Going away on a stormy Tuesday night to Chippenham, we showed character, togetherness and team spirit.”
