Junior football teams celebrated various trophy wins on Sunday.

(U12) West Herts Youth League Cup Finals 10th May

Tring Tornadoes Tigers 3 Chorleywood Pheonix 1

Crowning their most successful season, Sunday 10 May saw cup glory for Tring Tornadoes Tigers, with the team winning 3-1 in an exciting final of the U12 West Herts Youth League Cup, against Chorleywood Pheonix.

Both teams started strongly from the first whistle with solid end-to-end football. Chorleywood took good advantage of a break in play and took the lead with a well taken early goal. After a period of more fine attacking football from both sides, Tring were awarded a penalty for handball inside the area. Oli Garnham evened up the score line for the Tigers with an efficiently struck spot kick just before half time.

Following several half time substitutions both teams continued to show determination and skill at both ends. A fine counter attack following Pheonix pressure, saw the ball cleared from the Tigers penalty area and played through to captain Tommy Le Blond - who made excellent ground to find himself one on one with the goalkeeper. He slotted the ball home for a great goal putting the Tigers in front for the first time.

Pace grew from the Pheonix attackers who clearly saw the importance of scoring a quick second goal of their own. The Tigers defence was put under much pressure but they managed to produce several good counter-attacking moves. One of these strong attacks forced a Tigers corner. Oli Garnham placed the corner deep into the box and curling with precision, power and finesse it crossed the line to put the Tigers 3-1 up and within touching distance of cup glory.

Full time saw Tring Tornadoes the winners but Chorleywood Phoenix deserve much praise for the quality of their football and their commitment, which led to such an exciting game - they were worthy opponents.

After the match Bob Winters, Tring Tornadoes Tiger's manager said

"This was a very tough match and both Chorleywood and Tring Tornadoes Tigers deserve great credit for producing such a fantastic final. In the end the boys deserved their hard earned victory and I was immensely proud to see them lift the cup. The Tigers have been fantastic all season, and their hard work and brilliant team spirit has been rewarded with a both the cup and promotion - that's some achievement."

Tommy Le Blond, captain of the Tigers stepped up to receive the Junior League Winners Cup and later that day the squad carried the cup on a lap of honour around the Tring Athletic Football Club pitch during the half time interval of the Matt Lovell Trophy match to great applause from the crowd. This was a fitting end to a great the season which also sees the Tigers promoted next season after finishing runners up in their league.

fantastic game of football from both sides, but panthers were just too strong, with a brace of goals from joe chott and a single goal from callum mansell gave panthers the perfect win. well done to the full squad

It was a case of dj vu for the Tigers, as yet again they were the better team but could not convert their chances to get the deserved win. After a goalless first half, the Raiders took the points with the only goal of the game. The Tiger of the Match was Harry Wright who deputised for the regular goalkeeper and was outstanding. Kings Langley now appear destined to finish bottom of the division which really is harsh on the team; the players' attitude and work rate is fantastic and with a few bits of luck in the right places, it would have been very different.

Kings Langley Lions U10's won their Senior League Cup Final against Watford Youth Sports on Sunday in a very close and exciting match. The Lions took the lead in the first half when striker Jake Strain raced down the left wing and after beating his marker sent over an inch perfect cross for the hard working James Verney to calmly finish. Jake made it two midway through the second half from close range but almost immediately Watford Youth pulled a goal back with a well taken finish from the Watford Youth striker. Both keepers made some brilliant saves in a nail biting finish including a finger tip save from Lions keeper Tom Rushbrook who was standing in for Lewis Todd who tragically fractured his arm three days before the final. The Lions held on to win the cup and can now look forward to next Sunday's Challenge Cup Final as they aim to complete the double.
