Sunday league fixtures feel the chill

Only six games survived on Sunday as the Dacorum pitches were ravaged by overnight frost.

Things looked bleak for the BSFL sides after a number of fixtures were postponed on Saturday afternoon and, sure enough, the weather once again took its toll on Sunday morning.

One team who will be wishing their game had been cancelled are The Herald who were sent crashing out of the Herts Sunday Senior Cup at the fourth hurdle.

They came up against a strong Nicholas Breakspeare side, and despite a goal from Scott Carrington, were dumped out after a 6-1 defeat to the St Albans outfit.

Meanwhile, in league action, Division Two side Comets Sports Club Reserves made light work of the testing conditions as they bagged a 4-0 win over FC Intervino.

Aaron Lewis, Craig Lenane, Craig Linsell and Alex McCarthy got the goals.

Drays Athletic also bagged three points as they won 6-3 at Tring Royals. Braces from Jamie Smith and Jamie France, as well as efforts from Lee Clarke and Russell Kercher, did the damage.

In Division Four, The Olde Red Lion roared past Big GC FC as Craig Norval, Jamie Long and Dan Hutchinson secured a 3-2 victory.

Boxmoor Rangers also triumphed by the odd goal in five as they saw off Hemel Corinthians Reserves.

Tom Childs, Dan Gillespie and Peter Canty found the target in a 3-2 win.

Filippo Paris, meanwhile, was the hero for The Kings Arms as his treble downed The Three Tuns in a 3-1 victory.
