SEVEN was the magic number for the Tudors on Sunday as they romped past St Albans in the Herts County Cup – with seven different players getting their names on the scoresheet.

A comprehensive victory over the previously undefeated Saints was set in motion after just four minutes as Lizzie Sargeant opened the scoring.

Nikki Morgan added the second 20 minutes later with a near-post header, and Katie Jackson hit a lovely left-footed volley to make it 3-0 going in at half time.

After the interval, St Albans had their best spell and pulled a goal back, but Hemel got their passing game back on track and dominated the remainder of the game.

Birthday girl Titch Wood Thompson made it 4-1, before Mickey Taylor put the result beyond doubt with a cracking fifth goal.

Then, from a Kayleigh Baker corner, Charlene Turturici hit the goal of the game with a rasping volley.

Suzy Read completed the scoring for Hemel with a seventh goal with minutes remaining.

The Tudors have been drawn away to Stevenage in the quarter-finals, and should they win that tie, a local derby looks likely with Tring and Leverstock Green also both still in the competition.
