Raiders off to a flyer

Berkhamsted Raiders U10s had a dream start to the season playing their first competitive 11-a-side match in the West Herts League.

The Red side's passing and movement was a joy to watch, and some inspired finishing earned them an 8-1 win over St Albans.

The goals were shared around the team with Luke Waterman grabbing two, Dan Macey, Toby Hendy, Ben Ranger, Hugh Hurley and Callum Manson finding the net once each and an own goal finishing things off.

Fellow U11 side Comets Blues had an equally impressive win over Rickmansworth.

In their opening game of the season, Comets dominated after an even start, and only conceded goals late on.

Josh Price hit a hat-trick, James Lefrere and Kieran Domeney grabbed two each while Oran Swales, Cam Brooks and Luke Armstrong also netted in the 10-3 thrashing of their opposition.

Man of the match was Robert Morrison.

In a local derby, Hemel Stags Aces Wasps notched a 2-1 win over Berkhamsted Red in the U9s.

Harry Griffin and Ryan Lewis got the goals that gave them the victory.

In the U10s, Panthers went top of the Green division by beating local rivals Hemel Aces 2-1.

Goals from Calum Clarke and Callum Mansell secured the win.

At U12 level Hemel Aces beat Watford Youth 3-1.

Lewis Fitzgerald's fantastic strike put Aces ahead within five minutes, and after a superb spell of possession Elliott Roper found the room to double Aces' lead.

Watford fought back to grab a goal before the break, and Aces stopper Adam Rowe had to be alert to keep the opposition at bay in the second half.

Kieran Colby's strike just before full time sealed the win. Defender Jordan Diver was man of the match.

Comets Kestrels took a 1-0 lead into the second half of their game wth Berkhamsted Raiders White.

Callum Moriarty struck in the second half, and Harry Smitten found the net twice to add to Charlie Feighery's early goal and seal a 4-0 win.

In the Watford Friendly League, Berkhamsted Raiders U18s lost 3-0 at home to Harpenden Colts Vultures. Giles Masters was Berko's Man of the Match.

Echoes Orange, meanwhile, progressed through to the second round of their League Cup with a thumping 6-0 win at Wheathamstead Wanderers.

Ryan Oakley opened the scoring early on with a neat finish, and he was followed by Kyle Batchelor who forced the ball home.

Joe Wilson then scored his first Echoes goal with a close range volley before the break.

Ollie Gurney added two in the second half - a deft lob followed by a carefully placed header.

Emi Zavala completed the scoring with a cool finish at the end.

Man of the match was Alex Crowder for an assured defensive display.
