Hemel Town take on Boreham Wood tonight in the Tudors’ first ever Conference South game at Vauxhall Road.
Hemel got off to a flying start to life in their new division with a 1-0 win at Basingstoke on Saturday.
And Tudors boss Dean Brennan is keen to see his side build on that performance tonight.
“Boreham Wood have a lot of quality in their team and they play the same formation as us, plus they also play a passing style of football,” said Brennan.
“They have a young, talented squad with some loan players from pro clubs so we will have to be at our best to win.
“It should be a good game to watch for the spectators and one we are really looking forward to.”
Tonight’s game is the first meeting in a league game between the two clubs since 2003/04 in the Isthmian League Division One North.*
In fact, that was the only season the two clubs have ever met in league action.
Apart from that, they have only met in cup competitions, the most recent being the 2007/08 Herts Senior Cup semi-final which Hemel lost 1-0.
Like the Tudors, Boreham Wood started the season well on Saturday, winning 2-0 at home to Farnborough.
Tonight’s kick-off is 7.45pm, and fans are advised to arrive early to avoid congestion.
The Tudors also welcome Whitehawk to Vauxhall Road on Saturday – and Brennan is looking forward the test of two league games in quick succession.
“We play two home games on the bounce now against teams who I expect to be in to top-10,” said the Hemel boss.
“This is a good test for us. I feel if we can stick to own gameplan and stay brave in passing the ball, keeping to our style of play, then we will give ourselves a good chance of winning both games of football.”
