With only eight players available, a depleted Kings Langley Ladies side were beaten 12-0 by Houghton Athletic in Division Three of the Beds & Herts Women’s Football League.

Despite the one-sided scoreline, Kings battled bravely all the way through the game on an awkward pitch against their high-flying hosts who are second in the table.

Abbie Tarsey performed heroics in goal, while the back-four worked hard to frustrate the home side.

Amber Harris broke free and ran in from the left only to see her shot go agonisingly wide of the mark when Langley were only 1-0 down, while Nicole Barrett struck the post after breaking clear on the right.

After trailing 6-0 at half-time, the second half saw Langley continue to offer resistance to the hosts; Barrett seeing her shot fumbled and juggled by the keeper.

However, the hosts made the most of their numerical advantage, continuing to add to their tally as Kings ran out of steam towards the end of the game.
