Hornets hoping for a real Christmas buzz

Watford Ladies are getting into the festive spirit on Sunday by asking supporters to attend their game at Broadwater in festive fancy dress – with a prize up for grabs in return.

The club, currently second in the Women’s Premier League and ten games unbeaten, are encouraging fans to turn up in their festive Santa hats or their best Christmas fancy dress, with the chance of winning a signed shirt from the squad.

The Golden Girls face Barnet Ladies in their last game before Christmas, and as a thank you to supporters, anyone who turns up to the game in their festive hats and costumes will receive a discount on their entry to the game – with adults paying £2 and children being able to watch for free.

Five youngsters in their festive outfits will also be selected to take a penalty against a Watford Ladies goalkeeper, while there will be mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine available.

Watford Ladies manager John Salomon said: “We really want Sunday’s game to have some festive fun, and this is why we’re asking fans, young and old, to turn up in their Santa hats and Christmas outfits.

“We’re on a good run at the moment and the support we’ve received has been a real help, so I’m asking on behalf of staff and players that we get even more support on Sunday as we look to extend our good run.”

Sunday’s game kicks-off at Berkhamsted FC at 1pm.
