FOOTBALL: Kings Langley started the competitive season in style with a 5-0 thrashing of Sawbridgeworth Town in the second round of the Herts FA Charity Shield.

Sam Warrell and James Armstrong both netted twice, while Dan Campbell was also on target.

Warrell’s 25-yard screamer set Kings on their way, before Armstrong doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

Armstrong added his second and Kings’ third before half-time, after a fine through-ball from Dan Tomkins.

Both sides had chances after the interval, but it was Kings who found the net again as Campbell volleyed home a Warrell free-kick.

And the provider turned goalscorer one minute later to complete the rout and send Kings flying into the next round.

Kings start their 2011/12 MSSML Division One campaign with a home fixture against Crawley Green tomorrow (Saturday).
