Hemel Comets U16 Dolphins came close to a memorable victory when they were invited to play against a Great Britain side in their warm up for the Maccabiah games in Tel Aviv.

The Watford Friendly League double winners saw the best of the first half, taking the lead shortly before the break with a powerful Jake Wilson header.

However, the Great Britain side rallied in the second half and equalised with 15 minutes left to claim a deserved draw.

Comets Coach Trevor Acors said: “This was a real honour to be asked play against a team about to take part in the biggest sporting event in the world this year and is a reflection on the hard work that the team have put in this season.

“Good luck to Great Britain Maccabi at the games”.

Maccabi will play their opening match of the games against Brazil in front of an estimated 30,000 crowd
