Hemel Hempstead Town have brought in Zak Jules on a one-month loan from Championship side Reading, with Matty Harriott leaving the club to join National League South rivals Wealdstone.

Jules is a left-footed centre-half who has represented Scotland at U19 level, and he becomes the second Royals starlet to join Hemel on loan, following the arrival of Noor Husin last month.

Harriott, meanwhile, leaves the club after he and manager Dean Brennan decided it would be better to go their separate ways following an incident after last week’s loss to Concord Rangers.

“Matty wanted to play more regularly; he’s done a good job for us but he wanted to be guaranteed to start and I can’t guarantee that to anyone,” said Brennan.

“He’s a good kid with a fantastic attitude and fantastic energy – you can’t knock what he’s done at our football club – but both parties have decided it is best if we go our separate ways.

“We are trying hard to replace him and bring in exactly who we want, but it is difficult. We know what sort of place we can shop in, and some of these deals take a little bit longer than expected so we will see how it goes.”
