Hemel Ladies crashed out of the FA Cup in the third qualifying round as Basildon secured a deserved victory.

A lacklustre first half from Hemel saw them trail at half-time by a single goal.

A pacy Basildon side caused early problems for the Tudors, and a quick break from the home side saw them hit the back of the net with a well-struck effort.

Hemel had their chances to force their way back into the game, but could not manage to test the Basildon keeper as the half drifted to a close.

A much more positive Hemel side emerged for the second half and it looked as though it was only going to be a matter of time before they bagged an equaliser.

However, a defensive mix up saw Basildon take a two-goal lead and, ten minutes later, the hosts added a third to effectively end the tie as a contest.

Charlene Turturici gave Hemel hope with a thunderous strike from outside the area, but despite sustained Tudors pressure in the last 10 minutes, Basildon held on for the win.

Hemel have to wait until next year for another shot at FA Cup glory, but the side will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat with a win over St Albans in the County Cup on Saturday.
