THE wait is almost over for fans of Dacorum’s top football sides – with the new season set to get under way in just a few days’ time.
Hemel Hempstead Town, Berkhamsted, Leverstock Green, Tring Athletic and Kings Langley will all be hoping to get off to a flyer in the opening day of the new campaign.
All five teams will be in competitive action on Saturday, after weeks of pre-season friendlies.
Hemel will be competing in the newly-named Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division, and begin the campaign with clash against Leamington at Vauxhall Road.
Colin Payne’s Tudors will be looking to improve on last season’s fifteenth-placed finish in the Zamaretto Premier Division, and will be high on confidence following an impressive pre-season campaign.
Berkhamsted, meanwhile, join Levy Green and Tring in the Molten Spartan South Midlands Football League Premier Division after promotion from Division One last season.
Mick Vipond’s side stormed to the league title – taking top spot by 15 points from nearest challengers AFC Dunstable.
The Comrades take on London Tigers at Broadwater on Saturday.
Elsewhere, it has been all-change for last season’s MSSML Premier Division runners-up Tring, who have seen a change of manager, as well as a reshuffle of the squad.
Julian Robinson has taken over from Phil Casserley at the helm, and starts his reign as manager with a trip to Hertford Town.
Meanwhile, Steve Heath’s Levy Green will be looking to pick up where they left off last season.
The side stormed to fourth spot in the league after an incredible post-Christmas run which saw them fly up the table.
They begin the season at home to Hillingdon Borough.
At the same time, MSSML Division One side Kings Langley start the campaign with a home fixture against Crawley Green.
