The Dacorum District U11 side reflected on a year to remember at their annual end of season awards night.
Over the course of the 2012/13 campaign, the team won two pieces of silverware – the Hertfordshire Inter District 11-a-side League coupled with a triumph in the Herts seven-a-side tournament.
And the already brimming trophy cabinet could have gained another addition, after the team narrowly lost out on penalties in the Southern Counties Cup final.
While it was an exceptional effort from the whole squad, a number of players were singled out for individual praise at the awards bash.
The award for Top Goalscorer went to Leverstock Green-based striker Finley Sykes, after he bagged an impressive 12 goals from just 10 starts.
The prestigious Goal of the Season accolade was awarded to winger Cheyton Stewart for his 20-yard thunderbolt strike against Barking District in the Southern Counties Cup.
Buccaneering right-back Josh Ravenhall went home with the Players’ Player of the Season award, while Berkhamsted’s Sam Nolan bagged the Supporters’ Player of the Season trophy for a string of consistent performances at left-back
The most eagerly-anticipated award of the night was the Manager’s Player of the Season trophy, which this year went jointly to Isaac Pitblado and Matthew Blood for their consistency throughout the year
“Both Stuart and I feel honoured to have worked with such a talented group of boys this season,” said Dacorum District U11 co-manager Luke Nicholls. “We truly wish them the best of luck with their futures in football.”
