Leverstock Green Ladies added more silverware to their collection by claiming the Herts Womens Cup with a thrilling 3-2 win over Royston Town Ladies at the County Ground on Sunday.
Levy controlled the game and could have been 3-0 ahead by the 10-minute mark as Natalie Burrows, Sally Green and Giselle Subryan all came close early on.
However, despite being under the cosh for the opening 20 minutes, it was Royston who took the lead against the run of play through Joanne Rutherford.
Gemma Coggins was stretchered off just before half-time, but Levy did not let the set-back affect them and they came out fighting at the start of the second half.
Player of the match Green nearly provided the break-through when she fired just over and she was at the thick of things again soon afterwards as she met Nicola Hollick’s corner to head her team level.
It seemed inevitable that Leverstock would soon take the lead, and it was Subryan who delivered as she burst through a gap in the defence and calmly slotted her shot past the keeper for 2-1.
Levy continued to attack and Green scored another header to claim her second goal and Levy’s third.
Even when Rutherford struck to take the score to 3-2 with just two minutes left, Leverstock kept their cool to secure the win and lift the trophy.
