Berko notched their second double of the week in the only Spartan South Midlands League game to beat the snow on Tuesday night.

They were on top for most of the 90 minutes and with better finishing would have had a more convincing scoreline.

Myles Stephenson was first to threaten, then the recalled Josh Chamberlain’a free kick from just outside the area skimmed past the goal frame.

Connor Calcutt was denied by a fine double save and when a Frankie Jowle corner was not cleared Dale Sears arrived to strike what proved to be the only goal of the match in the 41st minute.

Berko totally dominated after the interval but could not convert their chances. A Chamberlain overhead kick was tipped for a corner and Calcutt hesitated when a shot was on.

Jowle was finding plenty space for Berko on the right wing but too often his crosses were caught by Biggleswade keeper Scott Walters or nodded away by defenders.

The corner count was heavily in the visitors’ favour and they were able to play keep ball in injury time to hang on to a precious three points.

On Saturday Berko are at home to bottom of the table Holmer Green, kicking off at 3pm.

They then have a run of three away games that starts with a trip to Leighton to play Aylesbury United on Wednesday.

The reserve team are at Bedfont Sports in the Suburban North on Saturday and then move on to Shield action when they entertain Dunstable Town on Wednesday.
