Comets Dolphins U18 lost their last game of a 35-match season to miss out on what would have been a fantastic quadruple.

Comets – who won a treble of the Herts County Cup, the WFL league title and League Cup in the last 10 days – were beaten 3-1 by arch rivals Croxley in the final of the Challenge Cup at Harvesters FC.

Croxley’s Reece Cameron put his team ahead with a direct free-kick, before Comets’ captain-for-the-day Billy May equalised to send the teams in level at half-time.

However, Cameron completed a superb hat-trick with two second half strikes to win the game for his side and get revenge for Croxley who had finished as runners-up to Comets in the title race by just two points.

Regardless, it has been a fantastic season for Comets who won 32 of their 35 games, scoring 132 goals and recording 10-9 and 4-3 penalty shoot-out wins.
