Tring Athletic 4 Greenhouse London FC 1
Tring Athletic recorded a convincing win over Greenhouse London FC in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.
It was the first meeting between the two sides, and the opening half-hour of the game was a predictably cat-and-mouse affair.
Both teams had chances to open the scoring but it was Athletic who eventually broke the deadlock before half time.
The hosts were awarded a free-kick on the left and skipper Graham Hall drifted a high ball in to the area where Michael Green was on hand to head home.
Clearly buoyed by the goal, the first few minutes of the second half saw Athletic wrap up the game with two goals in the space of six minutes.
Two minutes after the restart, Jack Seaton’s header found Matt Myatt just a few yards out with his back to goal, and he twisted and fired into the roof of the net to record his second goal in two games.
And just four minutes later Athletic scored their third goal. Jack Sunderland crossed into the path of Hall who controlled the ball expertly before volleying into the net.
The Tring captain was bossing things from midfield and crashed a shot against the bar before scoring his second and Athletic’s fourth with a curling shot.
Greenhouse pulled a goal back late on, but it was too little too late for the visitors and Tring march on into the next round.
