Armstrong blasts Kings into the next round
Amersham Town 2 Kings Langley
Jimmy Armstrong was the hat-trick hero for Kings Langley as they sailed into the third round of the Division One Cup.
A sublime move gave Kings an early lead as Jack Pattison’s through-ball from defence was glanced on by Craig Lynskey for Armstrong to rifle home into the top corner.
The game settled for the next half hour, before Langley were suddenly mesmerised by Ian Pogson’s dribble and he was given time to slot in the equalizer.
Shortly afterwards, Town were convinced that they had the ball over the line, only to be denied by the officials, and when Pattison’s sliding tackle was adjudged a penalty and converted, Kings looked in trouble.
Kings came out strongly after half-time, though, and a fierce Lynskey shot from a Shaun Owens’ pass had them level within seven minutes.
They then went on a scoring spree as Armstrong blasted in a free-kick, and Lynskey and Evan Connolly combined to set up Sam Warrell for a goal on his 100th appearance.
When Lynskey turned onto a deflected Tom Carter cross and drove the ball past the keeper, it was three goals in as many minutes and four in a ruthless 10-minute spell.
The night was slightly tarnished when Pattison was dismissed for a second yellow, but the last word belonged to the irrepressible Armstrong, who completed his hat-trick in time added on.
