Amateur football clubs could be in with the chance of winning a £3,000 makeover as part of a nationwide to find the worst football pitch in Britain.
Pitch to Win has been launched by petrol lawn mower engine specialists Briggs & Stratton, and the company is calling on U18 amateur footballers to nominate their pitch if they think that it is in drastic need of improvement.
The winning team will receive a pitch makeover, as well as sponsorship throughout the 2014/2015 season and a new team kit.
Runners-up will win a £500 boost for the club kitty as well as sponsorship and a new strip.
Ian Small, UK sales and marketing manager at Briggs & Stratton, said: “With health and obesity warnings in the UK on the increase – particularly for children – it is becoming imperative that playing facilities improve to help raise fitness levels nationwide.
“Not only that but a successful local football club really enhances a community. We want to really highlight the importance of local football clubs, and the significant contribution that they make to their community.”
