A BERKHAMSTED Collegiate School pupil is celebrating after being handed a second 12-month contract with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
Alfie Jones, 10, was originally spotted in 2009 while playing in goal for Little Gaddesden Under-9s, and has quickly graduated through Tottenham’s competitive Development Centres.
He was offered a place at the elite Spurs Academy in Chigwell, Essex last year, and has gone on to make over 30 appearances for the academy team, doing enough to secure his new contract.
The youngster juggles the demands of four weekly trips to Essex, as well as homework and away games, but says he has no regrets.
“I love playing for Spurs – especially when we play the big teams like Chelsea and Arsenal,” said Alfie.
“It is really hard but the coaches and other players are brilliant.”
