THE future looks bright for two young Berkhamsted Raiders team-mates who have been snapped up by top football clubs.

Seven-year-old Max Delyfer joins Arsenal FC’s elite academy, while Freddie Moriarty, 8, has been signed by the Watford academy.

The two youngsters, who currently play together for Raiders U8s Reds, will no longer be able to play for Raiders but will still be involved with the club socially.

Midfield maestro Max has played for the Raiders for two years, and his father Alex Delyfer thanked the club for their encouragement.

“Max is really excited about playing academy football for Arsenal but he’s had a fantastic two years at Raiders and is going to miss playing with his friends,” said Alex.

“We’d like to thank head coach Steve McHugh and manager Andy Durrant for all their support.”

Meanwhile, striker Freddie – who attends Chaulden School in Hemel Hempstead – has been involved with Raiders since the age of five.

He joins the Hornets’ highly-regarded Academy following interest from several other big clubs.

“We’re really proud of what Freddie’s achieved at such a young age and very grateful to Raiders and Steve McHugh for developing him as a player,” said his father Richard.
