Emphatic Tring hit them for six

TRING Park enjoyed a winning weekend as all six of their senior sides picked up victories.

The first team travelled to Bishop’s Stortford on the back of a fine win at Welwyn Garden City the previous week, and they made it two victories on the spin with an impressive display.

The hosts batted first and were put onto the back foot as Simon Stanway and George Harper picked up two wickets each.

Stortford began to make steady progress, but Keith Dutch (3-21) put the brakes on and helped dismiss the hosts for 210.

In reply, Tring stumbled to 77-3 at tea, before Michael Payne (47) and Josh Mangan put the visitors in control.

With the foundations in place, a quick-fire 40 from Sam Cherry gave Tring a comfortable win, with Mangan ending unbeaten on 72.

Elsewhere, the second XI secured an unlikely two-wicket win against Harefild.

Chasing 218, Tring slumped to 174-8, despite half-centuries for Mark Bater (57) and James Tomlinson (50).

It was then left to Toby Wastling and Richard Yates to guide Tring home with a 46-run partnership off just 31 balls.

The thirds, meanwhile, maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a convincing 71-run victory over Haynes.

Dan Plumeridge (47) top-scored for Tring, while Sam Bastin (4-24) and Rory Criddle (3-21) did the damage with the ball.

In other action, the fourth team recorded a seven-run win over Printers. Dave Sidwell made 89 for Tring, and there were three wickets each for Robbie Johnson and Robbie Grout as Printers collapsed from 156-6 to 158 all out.

On Sunday, Chipperfield Clarendon were beaten by 77 runs as Tring’s Scott Browne scored 98.

And Tring made it a clean sweep of victories as the second Sunday team picked up a 16-run win over Aldbury.

Euan Ferguson starred with 4-15 on his senior debut.
