BERKHAMSTED III suffered a 106-run defeat at the hands of Old Camdenians II on Saturday.

After bowling their opponents out for 165, Berkhamsted had given themselves a realistic chance of claiming the win.

However, wickets fell regularly in reply, and the Berkhamsted batsman were dismissed for just 59 runs.

Martin Gough’s 4-46 with the ball was the pick of the Berkhamsted performances, while Ian Putman notched up 27 runs with the bat.

Berkhamsted IV, meanwhile, put in a good performance as they saw off Redbourn III by an eight-wicket margin.

Two wickets each for Joseph Atkins (2-39), Jacob Lewarne (2-10) and Mark Lewarne (2-17) helped restrict Redbourn to 136-9, before Berkhamsted swept to the victory for the loss of just two wickets.

Nick Wale (61 n/o) and Steve Wale saw the side home in confident fashion.

And Berkhamsted V also emerged triumphant this weekend as they picked up a 32-run win over Kings Langley IV.

Jack Furlong (62), Ian Peplow (32) and Simon Atkins (29) helped Berkhamsted to a total of 171 all out, before Edward Sibley (5-26) and James Chambers (5-27) struck with the ball.

The devastating Berkhamsted bowlers snared five wickets apiece to secure the victory for their side.

It was not such good news for the Berkhamsted Sunday first XI, however, as they slipped to a 62-run defeat at Redbourn.

Batting first, the hosts stormed to a total of 236-4 before Berkhamsted were bowled out for 174.

Ben Beard top scored for the visitors with 48.
