Overtime drama condemns Storm

A thrilling game at Sportspace on Saturday saw Hemel Storm level the scores at 74-74 just before the full time buzzer in their National League Division One clash with fourth-placed Leeds Carnegie.

The game went into overtime and, for the second time this season, a score in the last few seconds gave Hemel’s opponents the win at 81-79.

Hemel coach Mark Lloyd was delighted with his team’s performance even though they were pipped at the post.

“We really played well against one of the top teams in the country,” he said. “Leeds had to make a couple of really tough shots to get the result, it could have gone either way.”

Storm are away at Leicester on Sunday in their last game before the Christmas break.

The Hemel side currently sit in seventh place in the league table, with three wins and three draws from their opening six fixtures.
